I’m very happy (at this point) with where we’re headed for our ‘baby-moon’

Abigail told me brought to my attention that we needed some time together before we had our little girl. While I agreed, I didn’t understand the magnitude of getting away until our birthing classes began. During the class, we watched a video and it explained the importance of taking time to connect to your spouse before the first child comes because the baby will need more time than you think – and you’ll need time with your spouse (even if your pride says you won’t).

This being the case, I spoke with a friend who is having a child around the same time we are (actually, it’s in April… so a month after us) and he mentioned that they’re going to out-of-state for their little get-away. My pride was hurt. We really don’t have the time to go out-of-state since my speaking schedule is rather intense now; ministry is blowing and going; the weekends are packed with shower’s and photo-shoots; etc. Bottom line? We better do this soon or it won’t happen.

Thus, I did some research online and found this kindof weird website on reasons for baby-moon’s and I made the logical decision to schedule some time away before the baby came. I found us a place to go that will offer a nice retreat but with the quirks of great things to do around it… but I’m not going to tell you where we’re going until we go. This is somewhat of a secret  I’m keeping from Abigail – we’ll see if she can pull it out of me… but I also don’t want any of you to visit us! ;-)

enjoy.

Three ways you can pray for me this weekend.

This weekend, I’ve been invited to speak at First Baptist Church Rockwall and the youth group. I’m pretty excited about this because they invited me in December for a preview of this weekend and I feel like we made a pretty good connection with the students and the leadership. Along with being with them, I’ll see old friends.

That being said, on Sunday at First Woodway, during College Hour I’ll be addressing the issue of “Suffering, and the will of God in the death of Soma and Teeba.” This has been a challenging week for us in our ministry and for our friends at PLC… but God has been very good to us – and for that we’re grateful.

But that’s not why you came to this blog – you want to know how you can pray… well, two will be on the disciple now, the other will be for Sunday morning during College Hour.

Here are 3 ways you can pray for me:

  1. Pray that students’ hearts would be open to hear the gospel and that they would respond to the Holy Spirit’s call.
  2. Pray that even if it requires public humiliation on my part – Christ would be seen as most glorious.
  3. Pray that I would be faithful to the Scriptures; not trying to explain suffering as something that Satan does, rather what God allows/permits/ordains so that we might hope in him.

grace.

Where we’re going for Christmas 09 edition

Abigail and I will be traveling to Hereford for the Christmas holiday. There’s a chance we’ll get snow… So we’re looking forward to it!

Ebenezer & Jan, Abby’s mom, will be riding with us on this 7 hour drive. I assume that they’ll both be asleep for the duration of the trip in keeping with tradition. ;-)

This will be our last Christmas sans baby… which means I’ll be spending my next 16 Christmas Eve’s tucking out little girl into bed, and then spending the entire night up putting together/installing batteries/praying to patience toys. I’ll be honest – I’m excited about that.

So, there’ll be silence from the ole’ blog/Twitter until after Christmas. I need the break from the phone and want to enjoy my time with family as much as possible.

May your Christmas time be full of grace, peace, and joy in Christ alone.

enjoy.
