Friday night was interesting to say the least.  I was with 5 yr olds along with Sarah.  It was madness.  I totally copied the quotes off her page for your enjoyment.  These were little conversations we had with the kids:

**Choice quotes from tonight, most of them from Michael Criner, college pastor, who told me to blog about this:

“Fire trucks can’t fly over each other…”
-Criner when the kids had these… I’m not even sure what to call them – fire truck things they could unfold and walk around with like they’re driving it? Well anyway, they were trying to crash into each other.

(After trying and failing to up the IQ of the conversation while we were coloring pictures)
Jacob: You said poo poo!
Criner: I said “efficient.”

“Now Jacob is being disobedient. See, now because you were disobedient, you led other people into the wrong. Talk to Adam and Eve, it didn’t work out for them either.”
-Criner after we gave them Lucky Charms and Capri Suns, and Toby – spastic child – squeezed his Capri Sun into the cup for his Lucky Charms, which was not how it was supposed to go, and then Jacob did the same thing.

(When Ashley, one of the girls who organized the whole evening, poked her head in to see how things were going, and we were pleading for a movie to put on for them)
Criner: What movie are we watching?
Ashley: Charlotte’s Web? Is that okay?
Criner: What are our other options? …Braveheart?

Criner was reading them a story (this ploy actually worked pretty well, because they were for the most part quiet and attentive for the duration of it) about Daniel in the lion’s den. And there was a line about how Daniel could have eaten the best foods and wine, but Criner censored it to “grape juice” (this is a Baptist church, after all).

(Looking at the picture book, when Daniel is in the cave with the lions.)
Jacob: If someone put me in the lion’s den, I would just run out.
Criner: But there’s a man guarding it.
Toby: You could get past him…
Criner: How?
Toby: You could kick him… in the nuts.
(I thought I was going to die.)
