A little conversation Abby and I had Monday night:

—————————————-

Abby: 103.2.

Me: 103.2?!

A: Yes, 103.2.

M: AND YOU’RE NOT FREAKING OUT ABOUT THIS?!

A: No. If you want to go to the emergency room, I’ll take you.

M: That’s okay, I’ll just wait it out in the morning.

followed by much sleep

—————————————-

103.2 was my temperature on Monday night. It actually all started Sunday after Rachel and Craig’s wedding. It was a great time with them as we celebrated their marriage. Rachel had stressed to me that we keep it short (the whole wedding talk) and I did my best. I think the whole wedding lasted 8 1/2 minutes. That could be a record.

At any rate, we then traveled around 10pm from Dallas back home so I could go to work that following day. (read above story). Fastforward to Tuesday and I arrive with Abby to my doctor appointment. Here was our conversation:

—————————————-

Doctor walks in, ALL bussiness.

Me: Ummm… hi?

Doctor: So you’re sick?

M: Uh, yeah.

cough, cough, along with some drainage and such filling my throat.

M: What do you think all this might be?

D: Well, you mentioned that you had a temperature. How high did it get?

M: 103.2.

D: 103.2?

acting all surprised and such.

M: 103.2.

D: 103.2. That’s pretty high. People die from that.

I look at Abby as if she should have known that.

M: Well. That’s nice to know after the fact.

D: Well, I’m going to do some tests to see if you have the flu.

Great… the flu. Just what I need today and this week.

M: Okay.

nurse walks in with a q-tip as long as a ruler; she jabs it into my nose. After about 10 minutes the Doctor walks in and shares:

D: You have the flu!

but he was WAY too excited about it

M: You seem rather pleased about this…

D: Well, you’re the first reported case of the flu in the area… so yeah – I’m pretty excited.

M: riiiiiiiiight.

enjoy.
